National Policy Forum elections 2010

To all Labour Party members in Greater London.

I would very much appreciate your support in the election for the National Policy Forum in the Greater London region. You will receive a ballot paper from the Labour Party in early September.

As a longstanding member I have experience of representing the party at all levels, including being a parliamentary candidate. I am chairperson of Islington North CLP and a CWU NEC member. I am also a member of Labour Briefing, the LRC, the Fabian Society and the Co-operative Party.

I have taken a very active role in party policy making at branch, constituency and national levels. I have co-ordinated submissions to the party’s policy making processes, working with NPF, NEC and trade union reps. I spoke in support of the rule change at Labour Party conference last year for the 55 constituency NPF reps to be elected by OMOV.

I want a much more democratic party conference, with voting on resolutions and policy documents.

I am a committed socialist who stands up for the historic Labour mission of fairness, social justice and equality of opportunity. I am against: war and foreign intrigue, Trident replacement, privatisation, tax evasion and anti-trade union laws. And I want to: end child poverty, improve health and education, tax the super rich, promote peace and international development, return utilities and the railways to public ownership, build more affordable council and social housing, enhance employment and trade union rights, and create a green economy with sustainable energy and green jobs.

I want to listen to the views of party members and be accountable to them by attending CLP meetings and staying in regular two-way contact with CLPs.

If you would like to speak to me about this matter please do not hesitate to contact me either by email or phone.

Yours in comradeship,

Gary Heather
